Fulton County man charged with sexually assaulting young child

GLOVERSVILLE - State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Mayfield in conjunction with The New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and the City of Gloversville Police department, arrested Richard Dence Jr., 32 of Gloversville, for allegedly committing various sex acts with a 5 year old child, photographing these acts and uploading them to the internet for dissemination. The investigation was initiated after a tip was received through the Internet Crimes Against Children Tip line. Subsequently a search warrant was executed on his Gloversville home.

Dence was taken into custody without incident. Based on the results of the initial investigation, Dence was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Sex Act in the 1st degree – (class B felony)
  • Use of a child in a sexual performance – (class C felony)
  • Promoting a sexual performance by a child – (class D felony)
  • Possession of a sexual performance by a child – (class E felony)
  • Endangering the welfare of a child – (class A misdemeanor)       

Dence was arraigned in the City of Gloversville Court and sent to Fulton County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail or $100,000.00 bond. No return date has been set.

The investigation is still ongoing and further charges could be filed.
