Teen girl survives jump off Bear Mountain Bridge

CORTLANDT – A 16-year-old Westchester County girl jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge into the Hudson River on Tuesday afternoon and survived. The distance between the deck and the water is 153 feet.

Westchester County Police said one of their rescue boats was nearby having just completed another mission and rushed over to her. Emergency medical technicians on the boat got her out of the water and realized she was alive. She was taken to the shore and transported for further medical treatment.

Authorities said the girl suffered a broken arm, possible broken pelvis, scratches and contusions.
