Two arrested for Suffolk County shooting

WEST BABYLON - Suffolk County Police arrested two people for a shooting that injured a man in West Babylon this morning.

Thomas Barbal was standing with his brother, Michael, in front of their home, located at 119 Terrace Ave., when a man fired shots from a car window as he drove by at approximately 7:50 a.m.

Barbal, 20, was shot in the right arm and left leg and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was admitted for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects were arrested a short time later. First Squad detectives charged Geoffrey Tobin, 19, of 36 Denise Drive, North Babylon, with assault 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, and several other crimes.

Miranda Mugavero, 20, of 66 Phelps Lane, North Babylon, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 2nd and 3rd.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
