Trooper injured in accident Northern State Parkway

NORTH HEMPSTEAD - A state trooper from SP Lake Success investigating a single vehicle accident on the right shoulder of Northern State Parkway was injured this morning when a vehicle lost control and struck his marked vehicle in the Town of North Hempstead.

On Saturday August 2nd at approximately 7:00AM, a NY State Trooper investigating a single vehicle auto accident on the right shoulder of the two exiting lanes of Northern State Parkway west bound at Glen Cove Rd. was injured this morning when a car not involved in the initial accident, lost control in the left lane and spun across all lanes striking the State Police vehicle on the driver's side rear door with its left rear.

The trooper was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the car, Christopher Contaldi was treated at Winthrop for minor cuts he sustained when he entered the rear of the State Police vehicle to render aid to the Trooper.

The two exit lanes for Glen Cove Rd were closed for approximately 2 and 1/2 hrs.
