Dutchess man killed when car slams into tree on wet road

MILLBROOK – A Millbrook man was killed when the car he was driving skidded on wet pavement and crashed.

Earl Carlin, 22, was alone in his car at the time of the 3:40 a.m. crash on Sunday morning.  He was dead at the scene.  An autopsy will be performed.

Police investigation indicated he was eastbound on Route 44 when he lost control of his car on wet pavement, crossed to the other side of the road, struck a traffic sign, a ditch and several trees before coming to rest against a large tree.

He was wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed.
