Facebook tip leads to arrest in upstate hit-and-run

OLEAN - Troopers from SP Olean, while investigating a personal injury, horse and buggy, hit and run accident, which occurred on July 7, 2014, used social media to seek public assistance. A press release along with postings on both Facebook and Twitter prompted a Facebook follower to call in a tip, which lead to the location of the vehicle and the arrest of the vehicles operator.
 
The caller, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that he spotted the vehicle just after the accident heading north on State Route 16, and was able to identify the operator. Following the tip the Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and arrest the operator, Tiffany Armstrong, 31, of Cuba, NY charging her with several Vehicle and Traffic violations including; aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an injury accident and leaving the scene of an accident involving an animal.
 
The last report regarding the three people and the horse injured in the accident showed that all are recovering
