Pedestrian killed on Long Island

BRENTWOOD - Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Brentwood Sunday night.

A Brentwood man was eastbound his car struck a 68-year-old pedestrian at approximately 10:25 p.m.  The pedestrian was attempting to cross Suffolk Avenue from the north side of the street to the south, between Eastern Avenue and Willoughby Street, when he was struck.

The victim was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of family. The driver of the Versa was not injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
