Huge quantity of drugs found in car on Thruway

COXSACKIE On July 10, 2014 just after 3 p.m., State Police pulled over a vehicle on I-87 northbound for illegally tinted windows.  The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Michael Rodriguez, 41, and Antonio Cruz, 46, both from Allentown, PA. 
 
While interviewing Rodriguez and Cruz, Troopers detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  Upon further investigation, police discovered nearly 1500 small plastic envelopes; each containing heroin.  In addition, a small amount of marijuana was also found during the investigation.
 
Rodriguez and Cruz were arrested and transported to SP Albany where they were processed and charged with the following Class B Felonies:
 
 - Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree
 - Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug with Intent to Sell in the 3rd Degree
 
Rodriguez faces and additional violation charge of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
 
Both men were arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and remanded without bail to the Greene County Jail.  They are due back in court later this month, however a return date has not been set.
