Driver in Thruway double fatal arrested

GUILDERLAND – State Police BCI at Guilderland has arrested the driver of a car in which two occupants were killed in a Thruway crash last Friday, July 4, just before midnight.

When Tyler Pascuzzi, 24, of Coxsackie was released from Albany Medical Center on Tuesday, July 8, he was immediately arrested and charged with Vehicular homicide, three counts of vehicular manslaughter, DWI and reckless driving.

He was in the center lane at a high rate of speed when his Volkswagen struck a Honda. Pascuzzi’s car spun out of control and struck a tractor-trailer, splitting his VW in half.

Killed in the crash were Pascuzzi’s passengers, Cody Veverka, 23, of South Cairo and Alicia Tamboia, 24, of Wingdale.

Pascuzzi and the driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries.  The truck driver was not injured.

Pascuzzi reportedly posted $250,000 bail and was released following arraignment.
