Two shot at graduation party in Orange County

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Two people were shot just before midnight Saturday during a house or graduation party in the Town of Newburgh and police continue to investigate.  The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. at 2 Baltsas Road.

Police Chief Michael Clancy said at least two individuals sustained non-fatal wounds.

“There were anywhere between 50 to 60 people coming from a party. A lot of them fled the area. There was apparently an exchange of gunfire after a number of people arrived at this party,” Clancy said. “We don’t know at this time what caused it, who the suspects are or any other details at this time.”

One of those wounded was identified Maleek Logan, 17, of Newburgh. The other victim was shot in the back. It could not be immediately ascertained if that was a male or female.

No arrests were made.

Town detectives were assisted by State Police and district attorney’s investigators.
