Guilty plea in Albany County rape of young teen

ALBANY - A Ravena man pleaded guilty to one count of rape in the second degree, a violent felony, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, in Albany County Court Thursday afternoon. 

On May 17, 2014 in the Town of Coeymans, members of the Coeymans Police Department received a call from an adult female that she had witnessed Asten Aldous, 23, raping a 13 year old girl. When officers arrived to arrest Aldous, he was brandishing two knives at officers. Police had to use a taser to stun him and then were able to take him into custody.

Aldous faces 7 years in state prison for his conviction of Rape and 2 1/3 to 7 years for his weapons conviction,   The prison time will be followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. He must also register as a sexual offender when he is released from custody.

These sentences will be served consecutive to each other, for a total of 9 1/3 to 16 1/3 years in prison.

Aldous remains in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail to await sentencing.
