USMA cadet indicted for possession and distribution of child porn

NEW YORK – A United States Military Academy cadet was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday on charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography.

Ricky Patrick Hester could receive up to 20 years in prison on each count if found guilty.

Hester, 23, of Granger, Indiana, was a member of the West Point Class of 2014, but was placed on administrative leave when arrested in December 2013.  He remains in that status and is presently not at the academy.

It is alleged that from at least February through September 2013 on several occasions, Hester possessed and distributed images and videos containing child pornography. According to the charges, Hester used an email account to exchange several videos with other Internet users that contained what appeared to be minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

When he was questioned at his barracks, he admitted that he sent and received images and videos of child pornography using a private email account.
