Upstate school board member arrested for endangering the welfare of a child

TOWN OF JASPER - A five month investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a member of the Jasper – Troupsburg School Board in Steuben County. 

In January of this year, a report was received from the N.Y.S. Child Abuse Hotline, indicating that members of Jasper – Troupsburg High School athletic teams were attending gatherings at a private residence in the Town of Jasper, which often times involved the consumption of alcohol by those in attendance. 

With the cooperation of school officials, multiple interviews were conducted over a period of several weeks.  As a result, Lisa Tracy, 47, of #2609 Cornell Rd., Greenwood, N.Y., has been charged with criminal nuisance, 2nd degree, a class “B” misdemeanor, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class “A” misdemeanors. 

The basis for the Criminal Nuisance charge involve Tracy allegedly maintaining a place or premises where persons repeatedly gathered for the purpose of engaging in unlawful conduct.  The basis for the Endangering the Welfare of a Child charges involve Tracy allegedly allowing persons less than 17 years of age to repeatedly consume alcohol at her residence, and to be present while alcohol was consumed by others less than 21 years of age. 

Tracy was issued an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Jasper Court on July 1st. 

The investigation in continuing and further arrests are pending.
