Ellenville man charged with assaulting infant, causing skull fracture

ELLENVILLE – The Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center has arrested an Ellenville man for allegedly assaulting an infant, resulting in a skull fracture and other injuries.

Thierry Owens, 21, faces two counts of felony reckless assault of a child and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.  He is in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Authorities said Owens was arrested after an investigation revealed that during more than one occasion, while at his residence in Ellenville, he recklessly assaulted an infant, causing the injuries.  The child was initially brought to Ellenville Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Albany Medical Center Pediatric Care Unit.

The case was referred to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Bureau.

The investigation is continuing.
