New York man charged by feds in email sex sting

NEW YORK – Federal authorities on Monday filed charges against a Manhattan man alleging that he communicated with an individual he thought was an 11-year-old boy via emails and instant messages and made plans to meet the boy at a hotel in Peekskill to have sex and take sexually explicit photos.

In March, Stephen Brown, 62, was arrested in Peekskill by state authorities when he arrived at the designated place to meet the boy.

The federal charges filed on Monday follow state charges against Brown in New York City, Westchester, Sullivan and Albany counties.

Brown has been charged with attempted sexual exploitation and attempted enticement. He could face from 10 to 30 years in federal prison if convicted.  He is currently in the Albany County Jail.
