Motorcyclist killed in second crash after fleeing first accident

ROCKY POINT - Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist from Mastic.

Russell Pallace, 54, was eastbound on Route 25A in Rocky Point when his cycle sideswiped a car, causing minor damage to the car but no injury to the driver.

Pallace fled the scene of the crash on his motorcycle and headed westbound on Route 25A. He then turned south on Rocky Point Road and attempted to pass other vehicles on the road when he lost control of the motorcycle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a number of trees.

Pallace, of Patchogue Avenue, Mastic, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle was impounded for safety checks.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone who has any information about either of the crashes to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
