State economy in “recovery mode,” says comptroller

MOHEGAN LAKE –Thomas DiNapoli says business the state is making its way out of the economic doldrums.

Speaking to the Hudson Valley Gateway and Yorktown Chamber of Commerce in Mohegan Lake, DiNapoli said indicators point to the fact that the state is recovering from the Great Depression.

“When you look at the various economic indicators that we evaluate to measure where the state is headed we are certainly, very clearly in a recovery mode right now,” the comptroller said. “Are we in the kind of robust, strong recovery that we would like to see? Well, clearly that is not the case, but the good news is that virtually all of the indicators that we evaluate pointed in a positive direction.”

DiNapoli said while the employment rate is down, there “are still too many folks who would like a good job who haven’t been able to find one.”
