Body found in upstate creek identified

PERRYSBURG - The body of a woman located in Cattaraugus Creek on May 6, by a local fisherman has been positively identified through dental records.

With the assistance of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office dental records were used to identify the deceased as Kimberly Militello, 59, of Gowanda, NY. Militello was reported missing to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on December 22, 2013.
 
On May 6, 2014 State Police responded to Cattaraugus Creek, in the Town of Perrysburg, after receiving a call from the Seneca Nation Marshall’s Office of possible human remains being found by a local fisherman. The State Police SCUBA Team and Aviation Unit were utilized to remove the body from the creek and the gorge.
