Request for applications approved by gaming location board

ALBANY – Selection of sites for four gaming casinos took another step forward Monday as the New York Gaming Facility Location Board approved the request for applications to develop and operate a facility and opened the bidding period for applicants.

Applications will be accepted until June 30.

Three regions of the state will call casinos home with one facility in two of the regions and two casinos in one other region. The regions include the Catskills/Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, and Eastern Southern Tier.

There are potentially five applicants in Sullivan County, two in Ulster and three in Orange County.

One Sullivan applicant, Empire Resorts, current owners of Monticello Casino and Raceway, has teamed up with EPR Properties. Empire Resorts Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini said they are “ready to respond to the RFA and look forward to submitting a compelling response in June.”
