Apparent hand grenade found on Long Island

SOUTH FARMINGDALE - The Arson Bomb Squad reports a Suspicious Package which was found on Friday, March 28, at 12:15 P.M. in South Farmingdale.

According to detectives, a pedestrian discovered a hand grenade on the street near the curb of Heisser Lane.  It was located close to the Long Island Railroad over pass. 

The Bomb Squad deployed a robot and removed the grenade from the scene for proper disposal.  The investigation is ongoing.
