Juvenile charged with murder for shooting on NYC bus

NEW YORK - A 14-year-old was indicted Wednesday on charges of shooting and killing an innocent bystander, Angel Rojas, 39, on a New York City Transit Authority bus. The shooting took place on March 20, 2014 while numerous other passengers were in transit.

Kathon Anderson is charged with second degree murder as an adult.

“Angel Rojas was senselessly killed while simply riding a bus home from work, which thousands of people do throughout our city every day,” said Kings County District Attorney Kenneth Thompson.  “He did not deserve to die so tragically and we will hold the defendant Kathon Anderson responsible for taking the life of this innocent and hardworking man.”

As stated in court, Anderson boarded a bus on March 20 after 6pm, and fired a shot that hit Rojas in the head. Anderson allegedly continued firing his weapon.
