DEP employee indicted for killing co-worker on the job

KINGSTON – An Ulster County grand jury indicted an employee of the New York City DEP, who allegedly shot and killed a coworker at the agency’s 71 Smith Avenue, Kingston office.

David Reese, 53, of 297 Flat Creek Road in Gilboa, is charged with felony second-degree murder. He is accused of intentionally shooting Aron Thomas to death on February 3, said District Attorney Holley Carnright.

“We have presented some information to the grand jury with regard to relationship or lack of relationship between the coworkers in the sense of whether they had prior animosity,” Carnright said.  “There is nothing that I find would elevate that information to what I would consider a viable motive for a crime.”

If convicted, Reese faces up to 25 years to life in state prison.
