Massachusetts escapee and his accomplice on Thruway

MAMARONECK - State Police received notice that a car possibly traveling south on I-95, near Westchester County, headed from Massachusetts, might be occupied by a female, Nevaeh Corres, 29, who had assisted her ex-husband and the father of her children, Hector Gonzalez, 25, with escaping the Essex County Penal Institution in Massachusetts.

Gonzalez was awaiting trial on a Class B felony charge for dealing cocaine.  Massachusetts authorities had the escape on video and were able to identify Corres as the accomplice. Extraditable felony warrants were issued on both subjects.

New York State Thruway Authority Dispatch was notified and State Troopers set up at the state line to watch traffic.   Minutes later, Troopers spotted the car.  Multiple units responded and prepared to pull the vehicle over.

A traffic stop was conducted near mile post marker 10 on I-95 in the Village of Mamaroneck.  Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.  Also inside the vehicle were the couple’s 2 and 4 year old daughters.

All subjects were transported to SP Tarrytown.  The children were turned over to the custody of family members.

Gonzales and Corres were arraigned in NY as Felony Fugitives from Justice.  In addition, they are also being charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class A misdemeanors.

Massachusetts State Police were notified for extradition.
