Father, son sentenced for violent burglary, theft of firearms

ALBANY – A father and son from Albany are headed to prison after both pled guilty to one count of attempted burglary in the first degree.

Michael Banks Senior, 46, was sentenced to 5 years in state prison, to be followed of 5 years of post-release supervision.  Michael Banks Junior, 21, was sentenced to 8 ½ years in state prison, to be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision,

On June 23, 2013 on Frost Place in the City of Albany, the defendants entered a residence armed with a pistol and rifle and began to strike an occupant who was inside at the time. After striking the occupant, the defendants then stole an AR-15 assault rifle, an AK-47 assault rifle, multiple handguns and one kilo of cocaine from inside and fled.
