Police say argument over money led to murder, suicide in Orange County

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – An argument over money apparently led to two people being stabbed, one fatally, and the alleged attacker shooting herself to death, Town Police in Newburgh said.  Police were called to 37 Mountain View Avenue before 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Bertha Williams, 78, was stabbed to death.  Rebecca Winters, 36, died from an apparent self-inflicted shotgun blast, police said.

A third person, Bruce Montanya, 60, was stabbed over 20 times and hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center.

The case remains under investigation.
