Heavy snow hits much of New York State

STATEWIDE – Much of New York State will see the heaviest snow of the season, so far, this morning.

Up to ten inches is likely as far north as Albany, with heavy amounts, around a foot, covering much of the southern part of the state.

Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered Interstate 84 closed to tandem trailers trucks beginning at midnight.
The New York City area will see a changeover to ice by the morning rush, making for treacherous travel.

The snow will wind down in most areas by afternoon.

Thursday through Saturday should be cold, but with no precipitation in the forecast.

Sunday could bring another storm that may last into Monday.  Current forecast models say the Sunday storm may not be as bad as originally feared.
