Man charged with trying to rob Poughkeepsie bank

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Castleton man was arrested early Wednesday afternoon by Poughkeepsie City Police when they responded to a bank robbery call.

Police received a report of a robbery in progress at the Chase Bank branch at 285 Main Street at noon; the suspect was still inside. Responding officers set up a perimeter and several of them were able to get inside the bank and take Silviano Christman, 20, into custody.  He allegedly had entered the bank and handed a teller a note saying he had a bomb and wanted all the money.

The teller alerted other people in the bank who called the police.

Christman was charged with attempted robbery as a felony.
