Comptroller urges residents to check for unclaimed funds

ALBANY – There is $12.5 billion in lost and forgotten money currently being held by the State Comptroller’s Office and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli urged residents to see if any of it belongs to them.

On average, DiNapoli’s office returns $1 million a day.  After a period of time, under the law, unclaimed money is turned over to the comptroller’s office.

To see if you have outstanding funds, check the comptroller’s website or phone the call center at 1-800-221-9311.
