Sullivan County man charged with murdering his mother

MIDDLETOWN – A Bloomingburg man was arrested by State Police and charged with killing his mother.  Andrew Moore, 29, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Margaret Regalia, 54, also of Bloomingburg.

Troopers were asked on Monday, January 13 to check on her welfare after she failed to report to work. She was found dead in her home and it was discovered her car and some personal property were missing.

Her son and the car were located two days later in the Middletown area. He was questioned and admitted to killing his mother on Friday evening, January 10.

The investigation into the circumstances surround the murder remains ongoing, said State Police BCI Captain Pierce Gallagher.

“We are holding off on motive as we want to speak to a few more people, but the son does have a drug history and that may come into play in the case,” Gallagher said.

Moore was arraigned and placed in the Sullivan County Jail without bail.

The State Police were assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office in the investigation.
