School bus, commuter bus crash, 30 KJ children slightly hurt

KIRYAS JOEL – Some 30 school boys on their way to classes sustained minor injuries Monday morning when their school bus skidded on slippery pavement on Quickway Street in the Hassidic Village of Kiryas Joel in Orange County and struck a commuter coach bus.

The children were taken to area hospitals for observation and treatment. There were no serious injuries.  There were no passengers on the commuter bus.

First responders with ambulances from Monroe, Woodbury and Blooming Grove responded to attend to the injured and transport them to the hospitals.

The buses were removed to a state Department of Transportation facility for inspection.  The Kiryas Joel Public Safety Department and State Police are investigating the accident.
