State of emergency, Thruway, I-84 shut down

ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a statewide state of emergency on Thursday and shut down the Thruway and I-84 overnight as Mother Nature dumped a foot of snow on the region.

As of 5:00 a.m., the following traffic restrictions remain in effect:

  • The Thruway ban was lifted for passenger cars only at 5 a.m. and will be lefted for for commercial vehicles at 8 a.m.
  • I-84 will be remain closed until 8 a.m. for its entire length in New York State
  • The Tappan Zee Bridge opens at 5 a.m. for passenger vehicles and for commercial vehicles at 8 a.m.

All roads will be open to all traffic at 8:00 a.m.
