Winter storm warning for up to a foot of snow

ALBANY – Snow will spread over most of New York State beginning this morning, with heavy snow likely later today into Friday morning.  The heaviest accumulation will occur over southeastern parts of the state, which could see ten inches or more.  The Catskills could get over a foot.

The snow will be followed by extreme cold, with single digit daytime temps expected on Friday, dropping to below zero Friday night.

Governor Andrew Cuomo will activate the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 10:00 a.m. to monitor a potent winter storm.

Sunday could bring more snow to the northeast.
