Two bank robberies in less than an hour on Long Island; likely by same suspect

NASSAU COUNTY – Nassau County police are investigating an attempted bank robbery and a successful one that happened 45 minutes apart on Saturday, December 28.  The description of the suspect is identical in both incidents.

An unknown subject entered the Dime Savings Bank, 175 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream at 11:45 AM and passed a teller a demand note.  The teller stated that she did not have any money and the subject fled the scene on foot northbound on Fletcher Avenue. There were no proceeds.  There were 7 employees and 1 customer present at the time of the robbery. 

The second incident happened at 12:32 PM in Garden City.  The suspect entered the Citibank located at 1050 Franklin Avenue and passed a teller a demand note. The teller complied and the subject fled the scene on foot through a rear door, northbound in the parking lot. Proceeds were an undetermined amount of US currency.  There were 5 employees and 1 customer present at the time of the robbery. 
In both incidents, the subject is described as a male black, in his thirties, wearing a Baltimore Orioles baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, acid washed blue jeans and white sneakers.
