Small town mayor loses his driver’s license following DWI

MONTICELLO – The State Department of Motor Vehicles revoked Monticello Mayor Gordon Jenkins’ driver’s license for one year effective Thursday, December 26. The action was taken following a hearing in Monticello on December 6.

Jenkins’ license was yanked because he refused to submit to a chemical test when charged with DWI on November 16.

He may not be considered for a conditional or restricted use license while his privilege has been revoked, the DMV said.

The mayor must also pay a $500 fine before his license can be restored.

Jenkins has until February 11, 2014 to appeal the decision.
