Mount Sinai woman killed in two-car crash

MOUNT SINAI - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Mount Sinai woman.

Marylou Pinto, 78, was eastbound on North Country Road when her car apparently crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, near Shore Road in Mount Sinai, at approximately 4 p.m.  Her car collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Patricia Vallary, 68, also of Mt Sinai.

Pinto was transported by Port Jefferson Fire Department Rescue to Mather Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Vallary was transported by Miller Place Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
