Gang member arrested in 2012 shooting

MOUNT VERNON – A Mount Vernon man, who is a member of the “Gunnaz” street gang, has been arrested for the 2012 shooting of a city resident.

Police said Prince Scott, 25, of 53 South Terrace Avenue was arrested by members of the Mount Vernon Police Department Major Case Unit and Narcotics Unit.  He is accused of shooting a man in the leg include 36 East 3rd Street on February 28, 2012. The victim has since recovered.

Police said Scott has a criminal history dating back to 2006 and includes 11 arrests, five of them on felony charges. He has been convicted on two felonies and four misdemeanors.

Scott was charged in last year’s shooting with felony first-degree assault and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
