Nassau County police make arrest for attempted murder

HEMPSTEAD - The Special Investigations Squad reports the details of an arrest for attempted murder that occurred on August 5, 2013 at 5:12 PM in Hempstead.

According to detectives, a 20 year old male victim was standing outside his Henry Street home when the defendant Brian K. Thomas, 22, of 105 Gladys Avenue, Hempstead fired numerous gun shots striking the victim.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition.  The defendant fled the scene in an unknown direction.

On Wednesday, August 21, Hempstead Police Officers observed Brian Thomas entering a vehicle on Fulton Avenue, Hempstead and placed him under arrest without incident.

Thomas is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree. He was arraigned on Thursday at First District Court, Hempstead.
