Flags at half-staff for Fort Drum soldier

ALBANY - Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday, July 26, in honor of a Fort Drum soldier who died in Landstuhl, Germany on July 22nd, as the result of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident in Andar, Afghanistan.

Army Specialist Anthony R. Maddox was assigned to the 10th Brigade Support Battalion of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, part of the 10th Mountain Division. He was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Specialist Anthony Maddox,” Cuomo said. “Though we are saddened by the death of this young soldier, we are proud of, and grateful for, his service to our country. We all join in mourning his loss.”
