Amityville man arrested for shooting three people at a party

COPIAGUE - Suffolk County Police have arrested an Amityville man who injured three people in a shooting in Copiague early Saturday morning.   Officers were responding back to 215 Maple Court at 1:40 a.m. to break up a party after they were initially called to the location hours earlier and, upon arrival, discovered that three people had been shot. As the crowd was dispersing, one person pointed out to police who the shooter was and he was taken into custody.

The three victims were transported to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives charged Tehron Sims, 25, of 4 Biel Drive, Amityville, with three counts of assault 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree. Sims was scheduled for arraignment on Sunday.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who attended the party and may have information on the shooting to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152. All calls will remain confidential.
