One dead, thee hurt in LI crash

NORTH PATCHOGUE - Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that killed a man and injured three others in North Patchogue today.  

John Bertuzzi was driving northbound on North Ocean Avenue when he crossed over into the southbound lane near Shaber Road AN oncoming car driven by Louise Cervelli at 5:29 p.m.  

Bertuzzi, 72, of Middle Island, was transported by the North Patchogue Fire Department Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.  Cervelli, 32, of Coram, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where she is in serious condition. Her husband, Garrett Cervelli, 35, and their 13-month-old son were both transported by North Patchogue Fire Department Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. Garrett Cervelli is being treated for internal injuries and the child was treated and released for minor injuries.

Police are investigating whether a medical condition may have contributed to the crash.
