Man killed in hit-and-run crash on Long Island

AMITYVILLE VILLAGE- Suffolk County Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in front of El Rodeo Restaurant and Bar in Amityville Village early Sunday morning.

Carlos Perez-Rodas, 26, was struck by a car driven by Joshua Dauphin, 23, of Farmingdale. The victim was then struck by a second vehicle that fled the scene at 12:43 a.m.

Dauphin and others were attempting to stop southbound traffic on Broadway when a second vehicle, described as a late model, dark-colored Mercedes, also struck Perez-Rodas. The driver of the Mercedes was last seen heading south on Broadway in Amityville Village.

Perez-Rodas, of Uniondale, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crimes Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 631-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
