Orange County man charged in major sex trafficing indictment

GOSHEN – An Orange County grand jury indicted the Newburgh man who was arrested late last month in connection with sex trafficking involving nine women.

Alexander Adams, 58, of 235 Little Britain Road in Newburgh was charged in a 205 count indictment with 34 counts of sex trafficking, two counts of rape and several other counts of felony and misdemeanor assault, narcotics possession, promoting prostitution and other crimes.

Adams is also charged with 59 counts each of falsifying business records and 108 count of offering a false instrument for filing. Those 108 counts allege he falsely claimed unemployment insurance benefits through the State labor Department. He received over $10,000 in benefits.

The sex crimes allege the trafficking of nine women, all of whom are over the age of 18 and are US citizens. One is now dead.

Adams was arrested on March 28 after a joint investigation by police in the City of Newburgh and the towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, with assistance from the Orange County DA’s Office.

He is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail
