Teen arrested after making false bomb threat

NORTH BABYLON - Suffolk County Police arrested a 15-year-old North Babylon youth after he threatened to bomb a United States government facility.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, a West Babylon resident received a phone call at their home in which the caller stated that a bomb was to be found at their residence.  The caller also stated that a U.S. government building was to be the target of a bombing.  Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Section units responded to the home and verified that there were no explosive devices within.

First Squad detectives, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, initiated an investigation into the origin of the call and were able to identify the caller and arrest a North Babylon teen.

The teen will we charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident 1st Degree, as a juvenile, and was released to the custody of his parents.  He is scheduled to appear in Family Court at a later date.
