Actor Stephen Baldwin pleads guilty to $350,000 tax evasion

NEW CITY – Actor Stephen Baldwin, an Upper Grandview resident, pled guilty to a felony of repeated failure to file personal income tax returns for three years resulting in a tax liability to the state of over $350,000. If he makes good on the money, he will avoid going to jail.

He has already repaid $100,000 in restitution to the state Tax Department, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe. As part of the plea agreement, Baldwin has agreed to pay an additional $300,000 in restitution by the date of sentencing and upon full restitution he will be sentenced to a conditional discharge.

If he fails to make full restitution by sentencing, he will receive five years’ probation and the outstanding payments will be monitored by the state probation department.
