Yonkers man convicted of killing his child’s mother

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man faces 32 years to life in prison when sentenced in June following his conviction for shooting his child’s mother to death and leaving the baby unsupervised in the apartment, lying next to her murdered woman.

Michael Saunders, 50, was found guilty in Westchester County Court on Tuesday of murder, criminal possession of a weapon, assault and reckless endangerment, all felonies.

Saunders shot Sabrina Durrah in the back of the head and chest and then left the 4 ½ month old infant next to her. The baby wasn’t discovered by relatives until March 24.

White Plains Police investigated the murder and on March 26 arrested Saunders at work.
