Girls’ basketball coach arrested for alleged sex crime

CORTLANDT – State Police arrested a Cortlandt Manor man who has been a volunteer coach for a private girls’ basketball team in Westchester County since at least the mid-1990s and charged him with felony criminal sexual act in the first degree.

Richard Dinizo, 58, was arrested at home on Friday by State Police investigators and special agents assigned to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

The crime allegedly occurred at his residence in 2010. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in state prison.

The investigation is continuing and additional state and federal charges are expected to be filed shortly, police said.  Investigators are asking any other potential victims of Dinizo or anyone with information related to his alleged unlawful activities to contact them at 914-737-7171.

Dinizo is in the Westchester County Jail without bail.
