WEST BABYLON - Suffolk County Police are investigating a fire that killed a woman in West Babylon this afternoon.

Officers responded to 1025-33 Little East Neck Road at 4:35 p.m. after a 911 call was received.  The body of a female resident was found inside the apartment.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Several area fire departments responded and assisted in extinguishing the fire that damaged a total of four apartments.  A second victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital and a third victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.  Both were treated and released.

The identity of the woman that died is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
