One dead, two injured in Long Island crash

PATCHOGUE - Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash in Patchogue that killed a man and injured two women passengers early Sunday morning.

Colin Garrett was westbound on the north service road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Waverly Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a fence and grass median and overturned onto the express portion of the roadway at 1:32 a.m.

Garrett, 22, of Washington Avenue, Patchogue, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two women passengers, Colleen Malia, 22, of Oakdale, and Nicole Wilk, 20, of Bohemia, were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue. The women were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
