Manorville man killed in motor vehicle crash

PORT JEFFERSON STATION - Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Manorville man in Port Jefferson Station Monday afternoon.

Leonard Sloan was driving a car owned by Fitzgerald’s Driving School of North Babylon, west on Nesconset Highway when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and crossed over onto oncoming traffic at approximately 12:55 p.m.  The car struck three vehicles in the eastbound turning lane that were waiting to turn left onto Davis Avenue.  Detectives believe that Sloan, a driving instructor who did not have any passengers in the vehicle, may have had a medical event prior to the crash.

Sloan, 59, of 2 Rosewood Lane, Manorville, was transported to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson by Terryville Rescue where he was pronounced dead.  None of the other drivers were injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
