Unidentified pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash

BRENTWOOD - Suffolk County Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Brentwood last night.

An unidentified man was walking on the east side of Calebs Path just south of Bushwick Avenue in Brentwood at approximately 8:00 p.m. when he was struck by an unknown type of vehicle. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene of the crash.

The victim was discovered lying in the street by a passerby who called 911. The victim, who is described as a 35 to 40-year-old Hispanic male, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information about the identity of the victim or the suspect vehicle to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
